How We Got Started

We often get asked what made us decide to make goat's milk soaps.  The short answer is that I wanted goats, and my husband Randy said that they had to earn their keep.  Initially, the plan was to milk the girls and drink the milk, but none of our kids were very fond of the taste of raw goat's milk. We raise Toggenburg dairy goats, and they are known for having a stronger tasting milk than most of the dairy breeds. With lots of milk and no one drinking it, I had to come up with another use for it. So, with the ultimatum of the goats needing to earn their keep, my adventure into making homemade goat's milk soap began.  After making my first few batches, and sharing with friends and family we had many suggestions to make our soaps available for sale. We now offer it for sale here on the website, as well as frequently attending local festivals and events.  

Our soaps are extremely beneficial to the skin, not only because of the benefits of goat's milk, but also because we use skin nourishing oils such as olive oil, coconut oil, castor oil, and lard!  We also do not use any artificial colorants, choosing to stick with natural clays, botanicals, activated charcoal and other natural colorants.  Some of our soaps are completely natural, using essential oils as the fragrance, however we choose to use fragrance oils for many of our soaps.  The fragrance oils are generally stronger scents and last through the soap making process better.  The fragrance oils we use are from a reputable soap making company that has been in business for many years and their fragrance oils are phthalate and paraben free!
